My lovely friend (and new knitter) Alisha and I put in an order at Elann for some Esprit yarn. I heard it’s the same as Cascade Fixation (but with better colors) so we splurged.
I started knitting last night and It knit up so fast I’m already done with one. This yarn is nice,thick and stretchy. On a size US 3 I feel like I have go go gadget needles.

The pattern is Broadripple from Knitty. Of course with my own little tweaks here and there.
It’s nice to have some instant gratification every once in a while 
(Melinda,Cavern didn’t fit the “girls”. I gave it to my SIL….my much thinner, younger SIL,so no pic on me)

Knitting time: about 6 weeks
Notes:I enjoyed knitting Cavern. I’m still in beginner mode so there are some mistakes. There is a hole on one sleeve and the yarn pulls in a bit on the ties. I didn’t really like the whole garter stitch sleeves so I belled them out a bit. I can really see an improvement in my knitting. Steady as she goes.
Would I knit this again? Yes,and I most likely will but with a different yarn. Less cotton,more wool.I will definitely use different needles too,most likely bamboo. My denise’s didn’t grip the yarn as nice as I would have liked.

Last night I cast on for CPH and I love the yarn. It is knitting so fast. I’m a little hesitant and constantly checking my gauge. The pattern calls for size 8 needles. I knit the swatch three times before I finally got guage. I went up two and a half sizes!

I did all of this last night so it’s knitting up pretty quick. Anyone else have to go up to a size 10 1/2 with Cascade 220?
I don’t know what it is, but the knitters’ block has hit a little early this year. I haven’t really felt much like casting on for another project right away. I do know that the Cascade 22o for CPH is calling my name.I need to knit up a swatch and maybe read a few more notes….then off I go.
I did end up finishing Cavern. Not on time but still The last stitches were knit on the 14th and I love it! I’m wearing it right now as it’s the perfect thing to wear while winding down at night. No pictures yet,the lighting hasn’t been that great here. I’m considering jumping on the wagon and making myself a makeshift lightbox. Maybe I can capture the true colors of Cavern. Ya’ never know until you try.
This is all I’ve been up to really.That and I’ve had a few interviews at colleges around here and I still cannot put my finger on what I want to do. I know it’s never to late to start working on a career but if I don’t think of something soon I might not ever do it. So…..decisions decisions.
I promise a less depressing post next time.I did get to the LYS and gnab some Fleece Artist and Three new Books.
As much as whined about the STR knots….there has yet to be a sock yarn that compares. Maybe Koigu…but that’s pushing it in my opinion.

I decided to bundle them all up and let them build a snowman while their sister napped.
Wouldn’t you know it,This knitter had no GLOVES to help with.
I only had the fingerless mitts so that didn’t last long..ha ha!

Knot or not,from now on I’ll give the yarn a chance to speak for itself before complaining.
I started these while watching the superbowl….(YAY COLTS!!) …..and here is where I am this morning.

The pattern is Wendy’s Toe up pattern with my own modifications.
I wasn’t able to get much done on Cavern. I still have 5 days to meet my goal of finishing by February 10th
If knitting the sleeves weren’t so boring I might have finished faster…lol
I’ll get to working on it tonight. I’m sure there’s plenty of interesting tv on that will distract me from the sleeves.
This is all I’ve been up to really. We’ve been staying in because of the cold.I’ve only left in the past week to go to the LYS,and to take/pick-up H form school and to the grocery.
It’s been down to 0 degrees at night and today its 11 degrees. I know it’s colder in other places but geesh! bring back the snow if it’s going to be so frigid!!
