January 2007

This weekend has been so busy it was ridiculous. I’ve been coming and going non-stop.
I’m glad for the weekend to be over but now dh is back to work and so am I.
We hardly had time to enjoy each other but oh well…that’s life.
I was able to get a few more rows knit on Cavern tonight.
I’m going to give myself the goal of getting this done before February 10th.
That gives me a little less than two weeks.I really should be done with this by now but I’ve been bad and cast onother projects

and joined charity KALS.

(I didn’t meet the first deadline of getting in the  squares for the KAL at The Lone Knitter
, but I will send them soon. I wanted to knit more than just one measly square. )

Now that I really take a good look at this picture,

I can see why this yarn was sold as “second quality”

The dye is definitely uneven in some places.

That is okay though.Live and learn.

Remember how I said that I couldn’t afford enough yarn

to knit a (what I consider) full size sweater?

Well,I have no idea when I will attempt this but today

I bought enough Cascade 22o to knit

the Central Park Hoodie from Knit Scene.

I really really really want to try to knit this sweater this year.I’m sure I’ll cast on after Cavern.

I picked up some Koigu at the LYS too…I’ve yet to try it…it’s so soft.

I also picked up this little kit at the Grocery Store….

How cute is that? It was only $9.00!!!

I was going to buy more than one as they had these in lime green too, they also had a wacked out

scarf kit. I just decded to get one. How many purse/sunglass covers do I really need?

Back to life as normal…

omg…I NEED this new yarn by Regia (color Surprise)….must find this yarn….I love the brown and red. :)

How cool is that?

As I was saying, I’m knitting some toys for myself the kiddos. It’s the cutest little book.

Noro Fingerless Mitts

Started:January 14th

Finished:January 14th

Total knitting time:3 hours

Pattern:Found at Another Knitting Blog

Yarn: Noro Kureyon Color 156

Needles:Susan Bates US 6 DPNS

Notes:The yarn was just calling out to be knit into mitts. Obviously, they don’t match…..which I expected. As much as I tried to get the colors right they are still very different. The first time I knit the right mitt it was completely blue and green, without brown at all. So,I ripped and knit it trying to match colors.

Being someone who constantly deals with eczema I was worried this scratchy wool would bother me. I think if I had knit full mittens it would have. Having my fingers free certainly helps.

I will definitely knit these again.

There was about 10 yards left,so it can be done with just one ball.

Well Green Gable is no more. I ripped it all out and almost chucked the pattern but maybe someone someday might need it. Not I,said the fly.

The brown Sheep Cotton Fleece is now Cavern  I am happy with this pattern. No extra stitches,no wonky lacework on the chest. Plus,I prefer cardigans more than one piece sweaters.

Here is the progress I’ve made so far:

DH and I watched Jackass #2 the other night and while laughing hysterically I was able to get all of that done. Mindless knitting is my new best friend.

I was  able to make a trip to the yarn store this weekend. Knit Wits  I was bad. Looks like I’m going to have to say buh-bye to the Knit from your Stash 2007 button on my blog. I really don’t have much of a stash anyway….but I really spent a lot this weekend.Knit Wits is a great little shop. They’re not as big as the other shop we have around here but the people are great. She even placed a special order of Fleece Artist yarn for me. I cannot wait to see what colors come in.

I bought my first ball of Noro Kureyon. Color # 156.

I think I’m going to make a pair of those cute little fingerless mitts I saw at Knitting Iris or at Another Knitting Blog

I also picked up some Brown Sheep Wildfoote.

Along with some Size US 1 Brittany DPNS. I’m not really crazy about Wildfoote. My last  run-in with this yarn

was not good. I ended up throwing both skeins of it away. I really like this colorway though,I love me some reds and pinks… I thought I’d give in and give it another chance. If this one fails,I’ll never use it again.

While on the subject of ripping things out and sock yarn I thought I’d mention that I ripped out the socks I knit with artyarns supermerino. They were just too bulky. I prefer using fingering weight. It is beautiful yarn though. I plan to make another pair of mittens as soon as the time presents itself.

I have much more going on knit wise but I’ll leave that for another post. I’ve been knitting my heart out to make some toys for the kids. I borrowed the book Knitted Toys by Zoe Mellor from the Library and the KIDS WENT NUTS.

Cute stuff….Check out the book.
