December 2006

If for some reason I don’t post in the next few days due to say…Exhaustion,Exhaustion or Exhaustion I’d like to wish any and everyone that reads this little blog a Merry Christmas,Hanukkah,Kwanzaa, and Winter Solstice. If I am forgetting a celebration, see above.

We will be busy-busy. Christmas Eve we will be going to my grandmas house. Then Christmas Day were going to my Mil’s, then to Dh’s granny’s house. Then to my mother’s house. Oh yes, let’s not forget the presents the kids will be opening that is under our tree here at home. Then the 26th is Dh’s 26th Birthday. He already has it planned to buy himself an Xbox 360 (yes,he is a nerd)

You can imagine my week. LOL Kids bouncing off the walls,dh with the xbox. Hopefully this will give me lots of knitting time.

I have been able to get to spinning the last few days and here are my results:

The red ball is slightly felted. I’m not really sure what went wrong.:(

Well I hope everyone has a great Holiday.

I guess you can tell what I did today?

I ordered some natural Blue Faced Liecester Roving

I am in LOVE

This is the nicest stuff ever. A dream to spin with. I usually purchase merino but I thought I’d take the chance and I’m glad I did.

The pic on the right is Emerald green that I dyed on the stove.

Then rainbow that I dyed in the crock pot.

The stuff sitting on the fan turned out okay. That is what I’m spinning with right now. I dyed it with Cake dyes. I didn’t do something right. The colors were supposed to be Black,Blue and Purple. I ended up with HOT PINK (instead of black),blue, green and burgundy. ~crazy

The rainbow and the emerald turned out the best. THey were dyed with Jaquard dyes and they are SO BRIGHT . I also haven’t had the problem with the colors bleeding. I guess I’m getting a little better at this.

My spinning is also starting to get a little better.

Not so bulky,or bumpy.

Drafting,is a good thing.

——————————————————————-

I have finished  a  few knitting projects. Nothing I had planned. A hat for N,and a purse for H.

I’m a small project kind of gal. Much more satisfying than attempting a sweater right now.

Pics tomorrow.

The light has been horrible around here lately.

Except for yesterday when I captured this….

I am offically counting down to Spring.

The new Knitty is up.I love most of the patterns. I really really like the Argosy Scarf. So much so that I grabbed some needles and cast on before looking at all the rest of the patterns.

(I know the pic is horrible,It’s way too cold to get an outside shot)(I’m wimpy) LOL I’ll try to get a more true color pic.

I’m knitting with Knitpicks Dye your own,Superwash Worsted.

My other favs are:

Book Of Knitty <—-That is so cute! Great Idea. Would be cute too with just a book of swatches like,Knit,Purl,Stockinette.Felted….ect. Great way to use up all those leftovers. :)

Bluended Hues

&

Monkey

I’ll just add these to the list. LOL I was bad and cast on Argosy before finishing the others I have sitting on the needles.

Hopefully this will be a quick knit and I can give it as a gift this Christmas. I get bored way too easy with my knitting.

Have a good weekend! Nothing going on here, but COLD!

After stash diving I have cast on yet another pair of socks. This is more of a test than anything.Just to see how this yarn feels against the skin.I have no idea what else I would knit with it.

I  have this HUGE cone of Hemp Traders Yarn I purchased last year through a co-op.

 55% Wool/45% Hemp

I had no plans for it,definately an impulse buy..LOL. The yarn is nice,I think it has been waxed to keep it from fraying. It’s really soft and I think after a wash  or two it’ll soften up even more.
Anyway,I started a sock with it and to my suprise I really like it!It’s knitting up  fast (always a plus) on Size 2 Addis.

I’d have to say that it is a light worsted/sport weight yarn.

The pattern is garter stitch rib from Sensational Knitted Socks.

I have another pair of socks that I cast on for DH but he hates them. I guess it’s because it’s Lion Brand Simple Stripes.

It was so funny. He was like “Oh you get nice wool yarn and I get the cheap stuff!”

Ha! And he says I’m the yarn snob.
