May 2006

Update:yahoo! My old broken camera is working.Whatever the kids spilled in it must have dried up.

I got some new books in the mail.
Mason Dixon Knitting
I love this book,no really I do.I think I might make everything. I’ve already made two baby bibs for my friend ready to pop and one for my niece.Heres one of the boy colors

I love the log cabin knitting too!We will have to see if I can get motivated enough to make something wonderful for my bed.It is king sized.
I did start on a bubbly curtain for the bathroom.
Yarns to dye for is another book I got.I am not impressed at all.Let me just spell it out B-O-R-I-N-G. Better directions are available for free on the net.
Vogues Stitchionary 1&2 although 2 is on backorder.
Version 1 is great.I’m trying to figure out all the ways I could use the awesome stitch patterns.

It’s finally nice out,so I’m sitting outside updating,It’s so nice not to see rain 24/7.

Have a great day

Ps-Ann,The pattern I used for the soaker is made up by measuring my daughter so its not totally accurate. You’d be better off using one guaranteed to fit and thats tried and true.
You can find soaker patterns here and
here

I hope everyone is having a good week. The weather SUCKS here.I’m not kidding when I say we have had a 5 day storm here in KY. We went from 75-80 degree sunny days to high 50s,cloudy and Windy.
It’s pretty chilly, and always sprinkling rain or storming.April showers bring May flowers….PFFT! Other way around :)
All this time in the house hasn’t been so bad.I’ve been working on some WIPS. Still chugging away on DS sweater.I wanted to start a sock, but refrained from casting on a new project until I’m done with the others.

I got some new laceweight merino in the mail from HPY.com. I’m not sure if I will be able to use it though. The dye “fumes” irritate my eyes when I try to knit with it. (If you have ever purchased HPY then you know what I mean about fumes) If anyone is interested in buying it from me,I have a paypal account. I’ll take $4.00 for it and I’ll ship it first class to the USA only. IT would be slightly higher to international addresses but I’m willing to ship it airmail.
You can go to their site to see the yarn.Lace weight,Vermillion Colorway.www.handpaintedyarn.com
It’s nice stuff,so if no one wants it I’m just going to throw it in the stash or try to wash it and knit up a shawl.
I’ll add a pic later.

As I type this im sitting here with my leg propped up on the bed.I broke my toe.(you can laugh, its ok)
I was doing laundry last night and because the washer is off balance Dh put it on bricks.OMG I kicked a brick while walking by and OMG OMG. YEEOUCH! Hurts alot more today.
I’ll add a pic of that too.. :) It’s not so bad compared to some of the pics I found when I googled “broken toe”…but it still hurts like hell.

Here I am complaining..I should be telling you to go visit my friend Zee
She has received some scary news and could use some good vibes. We all know what a difference a nice comment can make. Comments on my blog can sometimes really brighten my day.

Have a great week! I’ll get my gross pics up soon.

Finally,I’ve been able to start on the Green Gable KAL.(link at post below)
I’m knitting the Gable in Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece Colombine Blossom Colorway. I was really suprised that I got guage on the first try. It’s going pretty well but I already see a mistake. I must have miscounted somewhere on the lace and its starting to take on another pattern. Now that I see it in a picture it looks like crap…lol It will get ripped back. The cast-on is the backward loop cast-on (even though it isn’t mentioned on the actual pattern,we were told through the KAL)
I had never used it before but was pretty easy. It’s supposed to help make the boatneck shape. It’s such a fun knit and hard to put down.

I also started a new soaker, probably for by baby neice.I’m knitting it with the ever so waterproof manos. I’m just hoping it gives the elasticity It needs at the waist.

The new Interweave Knits came today and again I was a little let down.I’m not sure what I expect to see but I’m not that impressed.
I like the marigold tote.
The Icarus Shawl.I like this a.lot. I’m still too nervous to try it though.Very intimidating.

The Lotus Blossom Tank. This I might try in the Brown Sheep Cotton I’m knitting with on the Gable. I really like the yarn texture as it’s so light and airy.It would be great to wear out this summer.

Things are going good here around the house. I’m finally getting some sleep and I’m not exhausted all the time. The trick? I just have to go to bed before midnight..lol All those late night knitting sessions had to go bye-bye.With the kids getting up at 8 am…I just wasn’t getting any sleep and slugging around all day. All is well now. Yay! :) What will you be knitting out of the mag?I hope everyone has a great weekend

I know I’ve been MIA lately. These kids just keep me super busy.
I have been able to get a little bit of knitting done at night though. I cast on and finished a soaker for a friend that had her baby in March. I-so-dropped-the-ball-on-that-one. Theres actually alot of yarn leftover so I’ll probably make a little hat to go with it.
There hasn’t been any progress on DS sweater,It got boring. I’m going to try to get a few rows in tomorrow while I watch Deadliest Catch.
I ordered some yarn today for the Green Gable KALBrown Sheep Cotton Fleece,Columbine Blue Colorway. It’s being sent Prority so I’ll get pics when it gets here.

Before I forget!

Theres more baby news,My brother just found out a few days ago that he is having a little girl. Can I get an AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW? She is due on August 9th.My brothers Poor girlfriend,Being pregnant in the summer heat is dreadful!
My brother,I know he wanted a son, only because he’s only ever wanted two children and he already has a daughter.Still, you could tell he was excited. As long as shes healthy, that’s all that matters. I love knitting little things,Aunt Melanie will be busy searching for the right blankee pattern! I can’t wait to meet her. They’ve mentioned naming her Tara,Which I think is a beautiful name.
