April 2006

Ok,Yes there are very few colors I don’t like to knit with.Yellow is one of them. In the spirit of trying something new I purchased Yellow merino roving and Spun it into some cute thick and thin.
It spun back on itself horribly and I’m guessing it’s because I overspun it. (duh?)
I’m still new at spinning and I’ll get that worked out the more I do it.

Knitting-
I haven’t done much.I got the merino spun and didn’t do anything on the needles.

Yesterday we went to Dayton,Ohio to visit the family. It was really nice to see them. I haven’t seen my grandpa in a few years. As much as I was happy to just be in his company, all he wanted to talk to me about was politics and religion. Those are the two things I NEVER discuss.
So,after about an hour of hearing that my family was going to hell,I just hung out with mom the rest of the time. I know he meant well, but hearing my husband will burn in the lake of fire wasn’t exactly my idea of a good time.
I tried to make the best of it,I was in a great country town.I didn’t see any yarn shops but I took a walk and I saw the most adorable black and white sheep. The owners weren’t home so I have no clue what kind they were. Of course I forgot my camera. Let’s just say OMG I want my own sheep. Four or Five would be a nice number.

Happy Easter! I hope everyone had a great day. We spent the day here at my house with family. We grilled out hot dogs and Hamburgers with all the fix-ins. It was more like a 4th of July picnic than Easter really, but it was a blast. I especially loved watching -A- find eggs for the first time. He was so cute..hiding eggs after he already found them and then saying “got another one”. -H- was super excited all day and couldn’t wait to show everyone what the easter bunny brought her.The baby got two stuffed animals that rattle, shes sleeping with them now.
Things have been so hectic around here I haven’t had a chance to blog when I wanted to. I took in a child to babysit during the week. Not only will this help out SO-MUCH with the bills but it will give the kids some interaction. Not to mention I will not feel so bad about buying some much wanted (dare I say needed) yarn. (STR)

On the knitting front I finished moms socks on Thursday and she loves them. My dad commented on how crafty I was and now he wants a pair. Now,To find some yarn he will approve of.
I’ve yet to cast on for another sock but want to do that soon. It’s my new goal to have 8 pair knit by October for myself. At least two pair for DH and a few for the kids.
I’ve been knitting away on -A’s- sweater although I feel like I’m getting nowhere.
I usually get about 3-4 rows done a day.

Sarah:Thanks for the comment on trying two circulars. I will have to get another addi and see how it goes, that is,If my scatterbrain can remember..lol. The magic loop isn’t soooo bad. Just not as nice as my dpns.

Amby: I don’t think I will be joining any swaps, although I want to. I even though of joining Secret Pal 8,but until I get a little more organized, its probably a bad idea..lol Did you join the One Skein swap? I’ll keep an eye out to see what you get. It’s fun for me to watch. Sigh….someday I will too. :)

I’ll have pics in the next day or so. I’m beat and off to bed at 10pm. It’s been a long weekend.

This week has been Fun! Most of the time the weather was cooperating and we were outiside all day playing. When the baby is napping that gives me time to knit which I love!
Speaking of knitting, Some progress was made on moms socks.

I’m super happy with the way they have turned out.The colors even match up so they are the same. Woo-hoo!
I also started on A’s sweater out of the Caron Simply Soft.Even though he is only in a size 2T right now I’m making it in a size 6.That way it will get lots of wear.He likes the feel of the yarn too,he doesn’t care for wool. He says “Ichee” lol

My crafters choice books came in the mail today. I wanted to change my choices but forgot so I ended up getting Nicky Epsteins Knitting Over The Edge. The book is okay, but I really don’t think I’ll use it. So,ebay here we come.
The other books I ordered (which I’m thrilled about) are;

One Skein By Leigh Radford

I’ve been a member of the KAL for a while but haven’t been able to participate because I didn’t have the book. I’m a cheap-o and don’t pay full price for anything..lol
So now that I have it,It’s on.

Also, Sensational knitted Socks and Handknit Holidays

The new issue of vogue knitting also showed up. I hate to knock the magazine but I wasn’t impressed. Everything was cute but definately not practical, everyday wearable knits. My favorite in the mag was the skirt on the cover. Not sure if I’d ever get around to knitting it but we shall see.
