January 2006

I joined the knitting olympics! I was really hesitant to join. I’m still a new knitter….not that great.
I’ll be knitting Daisy Cardigan from Knitty. I let Stephanie at Yarn Harlot know via email and she let me know that was her pattern. LOL I didn’t even know!I felt like such a nerd!
It will be my first attempt at trying to knit a sweater. I’m bound and determined to get this done on time. :)
Wish me luck!

In other knitting news. I cast on for a sock last night. I got all the way past the heel and then I fell asleep. I’m going to try to get this one done tonight and start on the other. I’m using recycled sweater yarn. Cotton,on #2 DPNs. It’s making a decent mid weight sock.
I’m happy with it..though I think I’m going to make it a little longer up top. I had wanted a shorter sock but It needs some length. We will see when its done.

The socks were starting to get boring so I felt like starting on something new. I used a pattern from Knitscene to make these fabulous Cable-y fingerless mitts!Knit With Pattons Worsted Merino.
I have a few blips here and there but I figured since it was my first time trying cables that I was allowed a boo-boo or two.Can you see it? It’s not on the cables but on the knitting.
I really wish I would have paid more attention. I was busy watching Conan O’Brien at the same time so I didn’t catch the mistake. :) Oh Well
Also, Check out the cool sock yarn I picked up at the LYS. It’s made by Lambs Pride…(I forgot the actual name,I’ll have to check on it.)
(please nevermind the tacky shower curtain background.

I’m quite pleased! (finally) I was a little bummed about the OSW not fitting like I had hoped. I still haven’t finished it all the way. So I guess I’ll work on that later.

Last night I cast on for a pair of socks. I’m using Knitpicks Simple Stripes in Storm on size 3 DPNS.

I’m pretty good with Kitchner but I decided to try a toe up sock. I went to knitty and found some pretty good directions on how to attempt a figure 8 cast on. I got it on my second try. (yipee!)
I also LOVE that I can try on the sock on to ensure that it fits. I have a size 10 foot so this will come in handy!
I can’t wait to get the first one finished so I can see how it turns out.

Like I want to. Here is the One Skein wonder from Stefanie over at Glampyre Knits.I thought it might be easy since I like to keep my projects small at this time. That and I can’t afford alot of yarn. 20-ish repeats (consisting of 2 rows each) later. Here is what it looks like.I’ll be sure to model it later.

It’s not completely finished. I still need to add the ribbing along the bottom. I tried it on last night and of course..It’s a bit too small.I’ll have to add here and there….s-t-r-e-t-c-h and then add some more.

I’m telling you. No matter what I do. It’s hopeless. I just cannot follow a pattern to save my life.

I’m destined to make items that are one of a kind…That’s for sure.

On the homefront things are good. Dh is working constantly and I’m constantly losing my mind. Being a Stay at home mom is stressful for sure!

H and A are being little monsters as always. Time for mommy to go help clean up the peanuts that magically found their way in my kids room and all over the rug…lol

You are a very hard worker, most at home when
you’re at home. You are thrifty and seemingly
born to clean. You are considered to be a Plain
Jane, but you are too practical to notice.

What kind of yarn are you?
